I love this product. After reading the negative reviews nd how it is more suited to teenagers, I completely disagree. I am far from a teenager and this has lasted longer than any polish I’ve used before. There has been absolutely no chipping because i also used a matte topcoat. I highly recommend this product and particularly this “now” color. In fact I was watching “Dancing with the Stars” and noticed Kelly Osborne and other celebrities with this shade. It’s good to know that even without a glam squad I can keep up with the latest trends…
The other day when redoing my nails I reached for my tried and true shade, a pearly pink that I usually wore because it seemed to go with everything and it would barely show a chip if that happened before I could get home.
Well fine and good, but when I finished and looked at my fingers all I thought was “dull.” Most definitely time for a change. So, the next day I bought two shades of OPI’s matte polish – a navy (yes, I did say navy) and a raspberry.
Was delighted to find that the navy didn’t look anywhere near as over the top as I thought it would. I really, really like it.
However, there is one problem and that is because it is a matte shade I don’t used the topcoat which, of course, would simply make it shiny. So, at least for me the matte does have a tendency to chip more easily than the other shades. That is noted on the tag on the bottle saying it doesn’t last as long as original OPI lacquers.
I think the matte nail lacquers are great for the very young…..maybe teenagers – but for anyone older it just looks as if you took a marker and colored your nails. The coat goes on very uneven and messy looking. Don’t think of buying this unless you’re going for the “goth” look. It doesn’t look anything like it does in the magazine ads….which make it look as if there is a slight sheen to it.
I had a bottle of the LA Paz-i-tively Hot – in the Matte finish. Did not realize that it was matte, and have never used a matte polish, in all the years of painting my nails. Very slow to try new things, and although I have countless bottles of OPI in all colors, I usually tend to use the same colors. Bright red, hot pink in the summer.. I am sure I am not alone. Reluctantly I tried this bottle of matte polish, because I loved the shade. Once, I applied this matte polish, I fell in love with it.
Number one, it drys almost instantly. You can put the polish on, and even two coats and in a few minutes you can go right out the door. I am amazed at the reviews about how easily it chips. I had my hands in water, packed boxes, and no chips. I am hard on a manicure this one lasted so long. You do not use a base or top coat, I was afraid that it would stain my nails, but it did not. Also if you want to paint your nails, and toes, and then go to bed, and wake up with a fresh manicure, you do not have to sit and hope your nails dry, polish, and then off to dream land. LOVE this polish, highly recommend the matte finish, oh, and it is not really dull, has a soft shine to it. Wish there was a bigger selection of shades!
The polish does look excellent, but the constant rubbing with other surfaces will cause the polish to develop a slight shine. Also, unless you have acrylic nails, the polish will chip quickly. I used it on my toes and the polish chipped within 3 to 4 days.
The color of this nail polish is beautiful! I did not have a color like it in my nail polish collection. I regularly buy nail polish, at least once or twice a month. I have tried several matte polishes, my only problem is I wish they could figure out how to make one that does not chip within a few hours. I have not tried a matte top coat yet, but that is likely going to be my next purchase. This nail polish only needs 2 coats, and it looks amazing. I LOVE the color! I’m not sure if I took it to a salon if they would be able to make it stay on for a few days or not. It really is a gorgeous color.
