This is an excellent product that works well for those wishing to make use of water provided naturally and reduce their water bill. However, for those do-it-yourselfers out there, I recently came across an article with instructions to make your own rain barrel from a plastic garbage barrel that has all the features of this product minus the collapsibility. It is a nice and easy to use rain barrel. The only downside is that the holes on the grating is really big which allows small dirt particle and also mosquito to get into the water. It would have been better if the holes were like wire meshing – this would prevent mosquitos from getting in.

It is easy to install and at the moment I have a full barrel of water which I am using in the garden to water the vegetable garden.. being ecofriendly has its benefits as Houston City has just increased their water rates!!!

A good purchase. We leveled out a spot and put down some patio blocks for it, and it works like gangbusters! Fills up with every thunderstorm, and keeps my backyard herb garden and a bodacious (12 foot wide and ten foot tall) butterfly bush happy and green. No hose outlet in my backyard, so this has been a real backsaver for me, as I was hauling buckets. And we can put it away this winter and not worry about it freezing.
